Thus far no major acquisitions have been announced at the festival, in tune with the more subdued economic reality in independent film.
But there are movies in play, here’s what we’re hearing:
* By Sunday, George Romero’s horror flick "Survival of the Dead,"which premiered on Saturday night, had one firm offer. Toronto is a favored spot – the "Night of the Living Dead" pioneer held the world premiere of his return-to-form zombie massacre "Diary of the Dead" back in 2007.
* "Casino Jack," a George Hickenlooper film about a Washington lobbyist starring Kevin Spacey, was sparking buyer interest.
* “Get Low,” a story about a hermit (Robert Duvall) who stages his funeral in order to reveal a harrowing secret, had distributors circling.
